Food Safety Supervisor

The Food Safety and Health Safety Manager is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Eataly’s Food Safety and other health and safety related matters while ensuring the efficiency, safety and good working conditions of all facilities at an Eataly location. The Food Safety and Facilities Manager guarantees that Eataly meets or exceeds all food safety, health, safety and general sanitation regulations and standards.  

Reports directly to the Director of Store Operations and functionally to Corporate Head of Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) and to the Corporate Head of Facilities. Oversees Facilities and Support team members.  

  • Assists in the overall implementation of standardized food safety and health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (Federal, State/Provincial and Local) 
  • Ensures equipment is up to Eataly’s standards and safe for operational use 
  • Manages team members: hires, schedules, trains, motivates, submits payroll and disciplines as necessary  
  • Ensures all staff is fully versed on state and local rules and regulations as well as Eataly goals; oversees training and development directly and/or indirectly and provides coaching, direction and leadership support 
  • Documents, investigates and resolves all foodborne illness related incidents including inspection violations and guest complaints with the highest priority, directly escalating issues to the appropriate outlet 
  • Maintains a database/binder of all related documents, permits,?licenses, contracts and manager certifications; conducts conversations with relevant authorities as needs arise 
  • Implements and creates or expands documents to ensure guidance is available for safety protocols 
  • Provides support and direction as required by means of audits, inspections, training and consultation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies 
  • Ensures efficiency and good working conditions of multiple 24-hour facilities, including but not limited to: walk-ins, refrigerator units, HVAC, plumbing, cleaning services and off-site storage 
  • Maintains accurate records of the conditions of all facilities in the building and creates a schedule of regular housekeeping and cleanliness for the store 
  • Guarantees exceptionally clean and sanitary conditions in accordance with provincial and federal regulations  
  • Assesses the ongoing condition of electrical, air conditioning, plumbing and other essential facilities and equipment to anticipate needs and resolve problems  
  • Ensures the safety of the building from fire, flood or other hazards 
  • Oversees inventory and vendor relationships  
  • Works with the greater Quality Assurance team on larger food safety initiatives including but not limited to: performing detailed research on an issue; developing a compliance strategy based on other similar business/ industry standards and/or internal brainstorming; creating a presentation on the issue, strategy, etc.; carrying out the proposed strategy (meetings, testing, data organization, data analysis, etc.) 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned 


  • 4+ years of experience managing Food Safety, Facilities and/or Housekeeping  
  • Knowledge of food health and safety applications 
  • Experience successfully managing a large team 
  • Excellent time management, communication and problem-solving skills 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Nutrition, Health and Safety or a related field preferred 
  • Licensure in food safety preferred 


  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule sometimes including evenings, weekends and holidays  
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for 8 hours in length, including standing, walking, bending and squatting 
  • Ability to withstand extreme temperatures for extended periods of time 
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Certification
