JOB OVERVIEW
An Artisan has expertise on products and processes at a minimum of two retail stations at an Eataly. An Artisan shares knowledge about products and ingredients with guests and recommends products and portion sizes. Reports to the Salumi & Formaggi Manager and Fresh Market Manager.
- Assists the retail counters with daily operations as needed to ensure counters are running smoothly
- Utilizes sales techniques to maximize store sales performance
- Builds and maintains relationships with guests
- Assists guests with cheese, cured meats pasta and gastronomia food selection, and shares knowledge of products
- Ensures retail supplies are in stock and being utilized properly at all stations
- Stocks counter and display refrigerators neatly, accurately and in a timely manner
- Cuts-to-order, slices, weighs, labels, displays, sells and packages products per department standards and guest specifications
- Ensures counter and display refrigerators are set and maintained neatly and accurately as per the pricing menu, and promptly informs management when food quantities or supplies are low
- Cares for and handles products with a strong attention to quality control and waste management
- Manages transfers between departments to ensure accurate inventory levels and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Provides a steady presence on the floor, constantly interacting with guests, employees, vendors and visitors
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of experience in food service
- Strong knowledge of steps of service
- Great communication and problem-solving skills
- Some knowledge of Italian products
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule sometimes including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
- Ability to use commercial equipment including scales, slicers, and packaging machinery
