JOB OVERVIEW

The Junior Category Manager, known at Eataly as  Category Manager, Salumi & Formaggi (SAFO), is responsible for assisting the Head of SAFO in maintaining, building, analyzing and improving Eataly North America’s Salumi, Formaggi and Dairy program.

Reports to the Head of SAFO and the Director of Fresh. This position is based in New York.

• Works closely with the Head of SAFO and the in-store teams to ensure buying, merchandising and sales processes operate efficiently and effectively
• Builds and manages relationships with producers and vendors; coordinates timely and efficient product flow via vendor projections
• Sets up new products and vendors; updates and maintains core product list and purchasing trackers
• Conducts vendor billbacks and purchasing projections; keeps vendor lead time and delivery schedules accurate and updated
• Liaises with national and international buying team to ensure a healthy supply chain for product distribution
• Remains in constant communication with the in-store teams on approved vendor templates, product needs and objectives, and supply chain logistics; conducts routine audits and edits of buying templates across stores
• Assists in managing supply chain and inventory control; ensures category databases and internal spreadsheets are up-to-date, organized and accurate
• Leverages category knowledge and merchandising strategies to evaluate sales performance; monitors and analyzes purchasing, sales and margins per store
• Negotiates cost savings across supply chain and sale pricing tied to the promotional calendar
• Assists in proposing data-driven changes to merchandising planograms
• Analyzes category trends and competitive concerns, including competitor’s pricing, product mix and consumer habits
• Provides significant operational support and presence in the stores
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate or Bachelor Degree
• 2 + years of experience in a category manager or data analytics role
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Outstanding attention to detail and analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, motivation and multi-tasking skills
• Passion for Italian cuisine and Salumi & Formaggi
• Experience in a hospitality/food industry setting preferred
