The Restaurant Assistant General Manager will be responsible for contributing to and leading the Eataly team in delivering our business and guest service strategies on a daily operational basis. This person will collaborate interdepartmentally across all Eataly levels to accomplish individual and comprehensive store goals, directing and managing restaurant management staff. The aim of our Restaurant Assistant General Manager is to direct the daily operations of the Eataly store through partnerships with the human resources, public relations, events, education and social media teams. He or she should have strong experience in effectively evaluating and mentoring the management team they support. In addition to adhering to operational duties such as profit and loss analysis, merchandising and pricing. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for maintaining guest service standards; will assist with our staff training and development initiatives; and will work with the Executive Chef, Restaurant General Manager and store General management teams as needed.

We are looking for a high energy individual to be a strong leader, have a focused and tangible management presence, not only maintaining a high level of hospitality, but passionately training, developing, and inspiring the Eataly team at all levels about our products and services.

 

Essential Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities): 

  • Manages and leads Eataly brand integrity through a transformational leadership style with a genuine urge to better themselves and their subordinates.
  • Works the floor actively, applying a hands on approach, unafraid to get hands dirty. 
  • Works alongside all retail, restaurant and corporate departments to effectively monitor store daily operations.
  • Provides in-the-moment coaching, training and feedback to employees as needed; actively facilitates the growth and career paths of employees.
  • Works with all members of the Eataly store leadership team to develop a high-performing employee base and a guest-centric culture. This includes being responsible for employee training and development and providing feedback and motivating the management and hourly staff to continually help the team to improve.
  • Accomplishes employee relations objectives by working directly with Human Resources. This includes, but is not limited to: selecting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates interdepartmentally with restaurants and corporate as needed to plan activities, special events, share information, etc.
  • Able to effectively manage inventory levels and replenish goods and operating materials as necessary. 
  • Maintains a high level of hospitality towards guests as well as within the team.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of progressively more responsible experience directing a large restaurant staff to accomplish sales and guest service goals.
  • Demonstrated experience and education in hospitality management; experience with Italian products desirable
  • Knowledge of Italian language, culture, food history and Slow Food principles a plus.
  • Full and open availability to work days, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrable computer skills including strong experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability to adapt to changing day-to-day responsibilities and events.
  • Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
  • Problem solver who is able to follow Standard operating procedures as well as think outside the box
