JOB OVERVIEW

The Line Cook will work independently and as a team to create a variety of dishes for guests. Reports to the Sous Chef.   

  • Identify and select cuts of meat, poultry, shellfish, fish, game or vegetables used for frying or sautéing
  • Prepare garnishes for dishes
  • Maintain a sanitary work station
  • Select and use knives, hand tools, utensils and equipment to portion, cut, dip, batter, bread, whip, beat, maintain holding temperature, fry, sauté, or otherwise produce food in their station
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program is desirable
  • Food Handler’s certificate is preferred
  • 2 years in a food preparation position

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Flexible availability, including weekends, required
  • Knives, hand tools, utensils and all standard commercial kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 4 hours in length
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds in weight
  • Good knife skills are essential
